Let’s keep the Dylan going today. Just came across this great version of “The Weight” from the 7-24-2013 AmericanaramA show featuring Bob, Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket).
Not the best quality video but the sound is good, and a fine performance captured for sure.
July 25, 1965 – Newport Folk Festival / Bob Dylan goes electric with “Maggie’s Farm”
I have read many different interpretations of the booing from the crowd that many attribute to his decision to electrify the set. Some suggest it was because his set was short compared to the others or due to the terrible sound quality. Whatever the truth, it was certainly a defining moment in music history.

45 years ago today The Band released Music From Big Pink and music as we know it was forever improved. The Band stepped out from behind Bob Dylan and emerged as one of the most important acts in music.
